ALEX IWOBI, AKA 17, FLEXES ON NEW SINGLE ‘TRACK 0’

Multi-talented footballer and artist Alex Iwobi, also known by his musical moniker 17, continues to expand his creative footprint with the release of his latest single, ‘Track 0’. The record sets the tone for his forthcoming project while reaffirming his position as one of the most versatile figures bridging sport and music.

‘Track 0’ drips with 17’s signature opulent-rap sound, as he delivers a calm yet confident reflection on success, personal growth, and new beginnings. Backed by an atmospheric production from EM1X, the track allows his unfiltered bars to shine—balancing gratitude for his journey with a clear commitment to both football and artistic expression.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the release, 17 shares: “I like to say I’m human first. I’m not just a footballer. I’m a man that likes to do a lot of things, and I like to remind people that there’s no restrictions on what you can do in life. So not just for me but for everyone else in this world, if you want to explore and do things, don’t be afraid to do so!”

The single follows a strong run of releases in 2025, including ‘Hop Out’ featuring Ramz and ODUMODUBLVCK, as well as ‘Letter’. Both tracks received widespread acclaim and media support from leading platforms such as The Guardian, The New York Times, BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, Kiss FM, and GRM Daily. Around the same time, he also appeared on UEFA’s ‘Off Pitch’ YouTube series, where he delivered a live performance and discussed his dual career both on and off the pitch.

‘Track 0’ serves as the lead offering from 17’s upcoming project, ‘More to Life EP’, set for release on April 9. The EP sees him carving out a distinct sonic identity, blending effortless swagger with feel-good, celebratory energy that reflects success without excess.

Rooted in his diasporic background, the project carries a strong Afrowave influence, paying homage to his Nigerian heritage. This is further elevated through collaborations with Nigerian artist Fido, rising act 24AM, and fellow Premier League footballer-turned-artist Amadou Onana, alongside a fusion of UK rap, drill, and Afrobeats elements.

17’s passion for music has steadily grown in recent years. His debut single ‘Don’t Shoot’ made history as the first official release by a Premier League athlete, and since then, he has continued to push creative boundaries. Alongside ventures in fashion and philanthropy, his evolving artistry underscores his status as a dynamic force redefining what it means to be a modern footballer.
