Celeste Ojatula Captures Hope, Love And Possibility On New EP Our Time In The Sun

Nigerian alternative singer, songwriter, and producer Celeste Ojatula has unveiled her second EP, Our Time In The Sun, a deeply personal five-track project that showcases her artistry as both a storyteller and self-producer. Arriving just ahead of her highly anticipated international debut at SXSW London, the release highlights Celeste’s unique ability to blend heartfelt songwriting with rich, genre-crossing musical influences.

Built around the soulful warmth of her ethereal vocals and guitar work, Our Time In The Sun explores themes of joy, love, healing, hope, and adventure. Drawing from experiences accumulated over the last five years, the EP serves as both a reflection on personal growth and an invitation for listeners to dream beyond their present circumstances.

Speaking about the project, Celeste shares: “Our Time in the Sun is a collection of songs that document the past five years of my life, and what it’s been like to dream of what life could be. I wanted to share this energy with anyone who thinks about who they could be someday.”

The EP unfolds as an immersive journey through emotion and self-discovery, blending Yoruba-rooted expression with global influences that span Afropop, Highlife, Folk, Soul, and R&B. Featuring collaborations with Rhaffy, Dwin, The Stoic, Ayofawo, and Anabel Rose, each track contributes a distinct chapter to the project’s overarching narrative.

Standout single “Oya Wa” featuring Rhaffy sets the tone with vibrant percussion and infectious energy, celebrating life, presence, and the importance of embracing the moment. Elsewhere, “This Side Of Love” featuring Dwin and The Stoic examines the complexities and loneliness that can accompany modern relationships, while “New Memory” featuring Ayofawo leans into healing, renewal, and emotional freedom.

On “Traveler” featuring Anabel Rose, Celeste embraces wanderlust and possibility, painting vivid sonic landscapes that mirror dreams of distant places and new experiences. The EP’s title track, “Our Time In The Sun,” offers a striking instrumental interlude, relying solely on atmosphere and composition to create a moment of reflection within the project.

The release arrives at a pivotal moment in Celeste’s career as she prepares to make her international stage debut at SXSW London, where she will perform alongside a new wave of emerging African talent across venues including Shoreditch Town Hall and XOYO. The showcase marks a significant milestone for the rising artist and provides an opportunity to introduce her captivating sound to a wider global audience.

With Our Time In The Sun, Celeste Ojatula delivers a beautifully crafted body of work that balances introspection with optimism, establishing herself as one of the most exciting young voices emerging from Nigeria’s alternative music scene. The EP is a celebration of growth, imagination, and the courage to believe in the possibilities that lie ahead.
