Ghanaian-German-Cameroonian singer-songwriter malaïka has officially released her live project, “27 – The Experience (Live in Accra),” a powerful body of work recorded during her 27 Experience concert at Alliance Française.
The project arrives after a run of performances across multiple cities and countries, serving as a culmination of malaïka’s evolving artistry. More than just a live recording, 27 – The Experience (Live in Accra) captures the emotional depth and musical growth of her work as it has developed on stage, offering listeners a raw and immersive experience.
Blending live renditions of previously released tracks with performances of unreleased material, the project gives fans a first listen to songs that are yet to receive studio versions. The live format allows malaïka’s signature sound—rooted in neo-soul, jazz, and R&B, with influences of highlife, afrobeats, and makossa—to shine with new energy and spontaneity.
One of the standout moments on the project is a medley that weaves her song “No Come To Suffer” with covers of “Victory Song” and “Homeless Song” by Black Sherif. The performance has already resonated strongly with audiences, emerging as a fan-favorite highlight from the live show.
The Accra recording represents the final chapter of the 27 journey, which has seen malaïka take the project to international stages, including showcases in Nairobi, a multi-city tour across Germany, and performances in London, where she appeared at South by Southwest and headlined her own show.
Based in Accra, malaïka has built a reputation for crafting music that is intimate, soulful, and emotionally resonant. Her velvety vocals and understated lyricism are driven by a desire to create music that feels comforting yet deeply expressive, often described as a “warm hug” for listeners.
The project was executive produced and creatively directed by Evans Kafui Offori of frayedjacket, known for his work on acclaimed projects such as Becoming Adomaa by Adomaa and For My Brothers and KANI: A Bantama Story by Ko-Jo Cue.
With 27 – The Experience (Live in Accra), malaïka offers listeners a chance to experience her music in its most immediate and dynamic form—bridging the gap between artist and audience while showcasing the evolution of a truly distinctive voice in contemporary African music.
