Jahmi Roc releases “Safe & Sound,” a spiritually rooted reggae anthem of faith and resilience

Kingston-born, Los Angeles-based artist Jahmi Roc has unveiled her latest single, “Safe & Sound,” a roots reggae track that blends conscious lyricism with a message of protection, faith, and inner peace.

Led by Jahmi Roc and featuring Mr. Suprize, the single delivers a steady, reassuring energy anchored by the repeated affirmation, “We feel safe and sound.” The track speaks directly to listeners navigating uncertainty, offering a sense of spiritual grounding and collective strength through its themes of divine covering, courage, and resilience.

Produced by Dale “Dizzle” Virgo, “Safe & Sound” merges traditional roots reggae elements with polished, contemporary production. The result is a sound that feels both culturally rooted and accessible to modern audiences, positioning the record across conscious reggae, gospel-reggae, and inspirational music spaces.

Jahmi Roc continues to carve out a distinct lane within global reggae, drawing from a wide musical palette that includes reggae, dancehall, R&B, gospel, and hip hop. Her work is deeply informed by her identity as both an artist and academic. Currently a PhD candidate in musicology at UCLA, she approaches music as a form of scholarship and storytelling, weaving themes of liberation, identity, and spiritual awareness into her songwriting.

Her artistry is grounded in the tradition of Black women’s freedom singing, while also pushing sonic and narrative boundaries. Previous releases such as “I Am” introduced her poetic-to-musical process, while “Write Your Name,” also produced by Virgo, expanded her exploration of empowerment and social consciousness.

With “Safe & Sound,” Jahmi Roc reinforces her commitment to creating music that uplifts and unites, offering listeners a message of hope and healing without losing sight of reggae’s cultural and spiritual roots.

The single is now available on major streaming platforms.
