Renowned Ghanaian music producer Joseph Kwame Addison, popularly known as Killbeatz, has officially received his Grammy Certificate from the Recording Academy, recognizing his contribution as a producer on Ed Sheeran’s multi-platinum album ÷ (Divide).
The certificate acknowledges Killbeatz’s production work on the track “Bibia Be Ye Ye” (featuring UK-based Ghanaian artist Fuse ODG), which appeared on the album. ÷ (Divide) took home the Best Pop Vocal Album award at the 60th Grammy Awards held in 2018.
Although the physical Grammy statuette is awarded primarily to the lead artist and key contributors meeting specific thresholds, participants like Killbeatz receive official certificates for their credited roles on winning projects. The presentation of the certificate comes years after the album’s success and the Grammy win, sparking fresh celebration among Ghanaian music fans and industry players.

Killbeatz, one of Ghana’s most accomplished beatmakers, has long been celebrated for his work in Afrobeats and highlife. He has previously won Producer of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) multiple times, including in 2013, 2014, and 2018. His collaboration with Ed Sheeran and Fuse ODG on “Bibia Be Ye Ye” marked a significant international breakthrough, blending Ghanaian rhythms with Sheeran’s signature pop-folk style.
The song was recorded during a memorable trip when Fuse ODG brought Ed Sheeran to Ghana in 2016, highlighting the growing global influence of African sounds in mainstream Western music. Social media has been buzzing with pride following the announcement, with many hailing Killbeatz as a trailblazer for Ghanaian producers on the world stage. Fans and fellow artists have shared images of the certificate, describing the moment as a proud achievement for Ghana’s music industry.
In a career spanning hit tracks for top Ghanaian artists and international collaborations, this recognition further cements Killbeatz’s legacy. While the certificate arrived delayed, it serves as a lasting testament to his role in one of the decade’s most successful albums, which produced global smashes like “Shape of You” and “Perfect.”
