Chadian electro pioneer Afrotronix has released a groundbreaking new single titled “Beyond the Sky,” featuring Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Stonebwoy. The collaboration pushes the boundaries of reggae dub into a bold new sonic universe, merging Afro-tech, Afro-electro, Mbalax, and Afrofuturist sound design into one immersive experience.
“Beyond the Sky” is an African reggae dub record built on deep, shifting rhythms and experimental textures. The track invites listeners into an introspective dance space, where spirituality and sonic innovation collide. At its core, the song explores themes of identity, collective memory, and the evolving meaning of “tribe” in a digitally simulated world. It questions reality, struggle, purpose, and human intention, all carried by a riddim that remains constant even as glitch-driven, deconstructed layers evolve around it.
Stonebwoy steps into Afrotronix’s highly experimental sonic world with precision and emotional depth, extending the reggae dub tradition into Afro-futuristic territory. His presence bridges Caribbean bass culture with African spiritual resonance, while Afrotronix reshapes the foundation of electronic music through his signature “Electro Sahara” sound.
Afrotronix—born Caleb Rimtobaye—is widely recognized as the first electro artist from Chad and a leading figure in Afrofuturist music innovation. Based in Montreal, he draws deeply from the ancient rhythms of the Sahel and the vocal traditions of the Sara, Gourane, and Arabic communities. Rather than sampling tradition, he reconstructs it within electronic frameworks, creating what he describes as a “sonic ritual initiation.”
His work fuses deep house, Afro-electro, and Amapiano structures into fractured yet cohesive rhythmic systems that reflect the complexity of African oral tradition. Often performing in his iconic DOM helmet—an artistic symbol of his sonic cosmology—Afrotronix transforms performance into a visual and spiritual experience.
With over 130 global performances including WOMAD, Afropunk, and JOVA Beach Party, and collaborations with icons such as Baaba Maal, Youssou N’Dour, Jovanotti, and Stonebwoy, Afrotronix has become a central voice in contemporary African electronic music. His accolades include AFRIMA Best African DJ (2018), 18 international awards, and recognition as a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Republic.
“Beyond the Sky” arrives as part of his broader artistic vision leading into his album KÖD, which features artists from across Africa and the diaspora, positioning Afrotronix at the forefront of a pan-African electronic movement.
With Stonebwoy’s dynamic contribution and Afrotronix’s futuristic production, “Beyond the Sky” stands as a bold statement of where African reggae dub is headed—into a space where rhythm, technology, and ancestral memory converge.
