Dera Unveils His Debut EP: Deragon ft Jeriq, Under Black Diamond

Deragon: An introduction to the world

Dera has stepped confidently into a new chapter of his artistic journey with the release of his debut EP Deragon under Black Diamond. The project arrives as both a musical introduction and a creative manifesto, showcasing the sound, vision, and identity he is bringing to the global stage.

Deragon compiles his first three singles released under Black Diamond which include Sade and Any Other Day from April and Saroje from August. All three songs serve as early glimpses into the melodic, expressive and dynamic artistry that Dera is quickly becoming known for.

With this EP Dera invites listeners into his world. The Saroje crooner portrays Deragon as a complete reflection of his sound and the kind of music he wants to share with the world. He expresses that this project is more than a collection of songs but a deliberate introduction of who he is as an artist while laying a foundation for the great things ahead.

The title Deragon blends Dera with dragon forming a symbolic representation of balance confidence patience resilience and self belief. Dera was drawn to the imagery of dragons because of their duality. Some breathe fire representing fierce energy and destruction while others symbolize calm power benevolence and wisdom. This duality mirrors his personality and his music. Deragon has also become the name for his blossoming fanbase a community he hopes will grow alongside his sound.

Dera worked with an impressive lineup of producers to bring the project to life. Shabba handled Sade while Chokeboi produced Saroje and Police. NYRP crafted the sound behind Aquafina and GRAMMY Award winning producer KrazyTunez contributed heavily with Any Other Day Kala and On Daily. Dera describes the collaborative process as a blessing noting that each producer brought their own energy and direction which shaped the project in a powerful way.

The EP also includes standout features from Sammie Cash on Kala and Jeriq on the Amapiano influenced On Daily. Dera praises Sammie Cash for delivering a smooth alte infused bounce with Afropop elements while he describes Jeriq as pure energy with a raw street grounded sound that blends effortlessly with his own.

KrazyTunez who worked extensively on the project shares that working with Dera always feels natural because their creative synergy flows with ease.

With Deragon, Dera hopes that listeners not only enjoy the music but also connect with his artistry and story. He believes the project carries love vibrant energy and a laid back feel with songs that can soothe uplift and energize.

Dera is among the first artists signed to Black Diamond the label founded by Afrobeats legend Wande Coal. Wande Coal introduced Dera to the world through Instagram in May 2024 and has since continued to mentor him closely.
