Music executive and entrepreneur Emmanuel Sedo, popularly known as Electro Mirror, was among the featured speakers at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Music Summit 2026, held on June 19 at the British Council, Accra.
The founder of FlipTheMusic delivered an engaging session focused on music contracts and the essential business knowledge artists need to successfully navigate the modern music industry. Addressing a diverse audience of musicians, industry professionals, and aspiring creatives, Electro Mirror shared practical lessons from his own journey and offered valuable guidance on building sustainable careers in music.
During his presentation, he reflected on his experience securing the first international deal for Ghanaian music star Gyakie, using the story to illustrate the importance of understanding the fine details of contracts and negotiations.
“I made an error signing our first international contract and came back with a better offer,” Electro Mirror revealed, emphasizing how experience and continuous learning can shape better business decisions.
Drawing from his career as a music executive, he encouraged artists to pay close attention to the business side of their craft and ensure they fully understand every agreement they enter into. According to him, a solid understanding of contracts remains one of the most effective ways for artists to protect their interests and position themselves for long-term success.
Beyond contracts, Electro Mirror highlighted the importance of building meaningful professional relationships and recognizing opportunities that can help artists expand beyond local markets. He stressed that strategic networking and industry knowledge are just as important as musical talent when pursuing growth on a global scale.
He also challenged artists to focus on creating distinctive music that sets them apart in an increasingly competitive industry. According to him, originality, consistency, and a clear artistic identity are crucial ingredients for longevity and relevance.
The session formed part of the broader TGMA Music Summit programme, which was designed to provide practical education and industry insights from experienced professionals. By bringing together key voices from different sectors of the music business, the summit continues to play an important role in empowering creatives and supporting the growth of Ghana’s music ecosystem.
Electro Mirror’s contribution was widely appreciated by attendees, many of whom left the session with a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges that come with building a successful music career in today’s evolving industry.
