Brazilian vocalist, lyricist, DJ, and dance alumna Alhocca today proudly reveals the launch of her first EP, “Malvada Filosofia.” This six‑track masterpiece fuses pagodão baiano, samba rock, rap, and Afrobeats into a bold tribute to Black womanhood and creative liberty. After her 2023 breakout singles “Ela Humilha” and “Sem Tempo pra Brincar,” the record showcases Alhocca’s shift from sparse production to a lush, live‑band aesthetic—a dynamic declaration that resists confinement.
The EP opens with a vibrant pagodão baiano reinterpretation of “Baile,” immediately establishing a percussive, high‑energy atmosphere. The highlight, “Dissbocada” (a playful twist on “outspoken”), delivers a fiery diss track that confronts the music industry’s misogyny with razor‑sharp verses. “Dádiva,” featuring Bruna Liviero, presents a spiritual journey, blending atheist and spiritual perspectives over a hypnotic rhythm, while “Ameaça Atraente” (Attractive Threat) oozes Afrobeat confidence and spatial harmonies.
In the EP’s latter portion, Alhocca explores her deepest personal experiences. “Comecei e não vou mais parar” (I Started and Won’t Stop) serves as a potent samba‑rock homage to Jorge Ben Jor, enriched with symbolic jaguar growls and the gentle strum of her husband Roggermx’s ukulele—a symbol of her steadfast resilience. The record concludes with “Não me olha assim” (Don’t Look At Me Like That), a heartfelt love note to Roggermx, revealing that even a “malvada” (wicked philosopher) harbors a tender heart.
Alhocca’s path is marked by determination and bravery. Beginning in hip‑hop dance crews and evolving into a multifaceted 2023 solo showcase at Sesc DF—where she served as director, producer, choreographer, and costume designer—she embodies a natural force. Her 2025 appearances at esteemed gatherings such as Favela Talks, Rua 6 in Rio, and the Black Consciousness Festival, sharing the stage with Brazilian icons Seu Jorge and Raça Negra, underscore her relentless ascent. A dance graduate who abandoned a Physical Education scholarship to chase her passion, Alhocca harnesses art as a catalyst for change, championing initiatives like Lagoinha’s defense and modeling for Salomão Ferretti Wear’s LGBTQIA+ advocacy. Her ultimate ambition is to create a self‑sustaining institution for diverse artists, led by women and youth, where art transforms lives, beginning with children.
With nine music videos, multiple festival participations such as Favela Talks, Consciência Negra, BBDW, and Baile da Rua6, and a 2024 Cine de Expressão award, Alhocca’s signature afro and a voice that marries power and tenderness render her unforgettable. “Malvada Filosofia,” produced alongside Todd Henrique and Rodrigo da Cruz, stands as her most daring declaration to date.
