After making history with her Coachella debut as the first Ghanaian solo act to headline her own set, Amaarae keeps putting Ghanaian music in the international spotlight. She honored her heritage by weaving Ghanaian tracks into her performance, and she went beyond that.

During a recent R29Unbothered interview with DJ Chvmeleon, where she talked about her Coachella set and forthcoming album Blackstar, Amaarae was prompted to mention overlooked Ghanaian musicians. She singled out AfroSoul and R&B vocalist Darkua.

Darkua has just launched her debut EP Never Too Late, a six‑song collection that delves deeply into love, heartbreak, healing, and self‑discovery. Her soulful voice and genre‑mixing style are carving a distinctive niche in Ghana’s growing music landscape.

Reacting to the unexpected yet powerful co‑sign, Darkua shared: “It’s incredibly inspiring to see how far Amaarae has come. Watching her Coachella debut was history in the making; I was tweeting through the whole thing because I felt so proud. She represented Ghana beautifully and made women in the music industry feel seen. To hear her mention my name as one to watch on such a huge platform like R29Unbothered was the icing on the cake. I truly appreciate the love and support.”

Since its launch, Never Too Late has accumulated more than 250,000 streams on various platforms and received editorial placement and support from Apple Music, Spotify, Audiomack, and Pandora.
