Apple Music has unveiled this month’s Africa Now DJ Mix, spotlighting Nigerian‑American DJ DJ Tunez, who tops the Apple Music Nigeria charts with his track ‘MONEY CONSTANT’ featuring Dj Maphorisa and Wizkid.
“This mix contains several of my current favorite songs from home and my latest collaborations,” he says to Apple Music. “I’ve worked with most of these artists on this mix, so I’m always thrilled to collaborate with them.”
Based in the US and Nigeria, the DJ and producer has established a unique niche in worldwide Afrobeats and house scenes. Known for his flawless blend of rhythm and melody, DJ Tunez captures the genre’s trans‑continental essence, fusing African drums with modern electronic elements to produce a sound that transcends borders. A regular partner of Wizkid, who signed him to Starboy Entertainment in 2016, DJ Tunez keeps broadening his influence through international gigs and celebrated releases such as Turn Up and PAMI. His output demonstrates a profound dedication to honoring African sonic landscapes while advancing contemporary dance music.
“African music will keep expanding and remain integral to the worldwide music dialogue from now on. Our sounds have endured over time. Our drum patterns have evolved and been perfected for the last 300 years,” he says to Apple Music. “I foresee an increase in indigenous sounds that uphold African culture breaking into global markets. Asake is a perfect illustration of this. Though his main language is Yoruba, he has achieved significant success by embracing his authentic identity. He will motivate a new generation of artists to follow suit.”
DJ Tunez’s Africa Now DJ Mix offers a lively portrayal of homeland and partnership. Showcasing several of his latest collaborations with Wizkid, FOLA, Libianca, Wande Coal, Tomi Tribe, and Gimba, it encapsulates the pulse of modern African music. Tunez weaves his strong artistic connections into a smooth voyage across Afrobeats, Amapiano, and more—demonstrating unity, rhythm, and the limitless scope of music.
