Joeboy tells Apple Music about naming his 3rd album ‘Viva Lavida’
The name signifies living freely, savoring life, and radiating positive vibes and energy. I often hear people describe my music as calming and all‑round. A friend began calling me ‘Lavida Boy,’ which inspired me to expand on that idea. I’ve begun holding Lavida sessions and plan to host a Lavida Festival shortly! I sense a lot of negativity circulating worldwide. Everyone seems to be toxic, huffing and puffing. I simply want to be a source of positivity—that’s my message, my mantra—something that has always guided me, even before fame.
Joeboy tells Apple Music about reuniting with his long-time collaborator Tempoe
We don’t get to collaborate all the time because Tempo travels extensively, but whenever we do, we make sure to create something that is truly unique and distinct in sound. We want listeners to exclaim “wow, this is beautiful”—both from a hit‑song standpoint and in terms of quality. Whatever track we’re crafting now, we aim for something that doesn’t resemble anything else out there, and we always achieve that goal, so shout out to Tempoe!!
Joeboy tells Apple Music about fusing different sounds on his new album
I travel frequently, exposing me to a wide array of ideas and cultures—and it’s only fair that those influences shape me positively. I even visited India and began listening to the local music from those regions, which also impacted the sound—so I incorporated that into certain tracks on the project.
Joeboy tells Apple Music about perseverance through tough times
One thing I’d like to tell every young person facing a difficult period is to stay strong! I try not to let problems overwhelm me. Don’t let them mess with your self‑esteem or self‑belief. Keep going and keep striving for more. Don’t view challenges as the end of the world or as something abnormal. Everyone faces obstacles, even when they seem cheerful or glamorous online. If you can fix it, fix it. If you can’t, just relax— and love yourself!
