The countdown to Ghana’s biggest night in music officially begins as the full list of nominees for the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) has been revealed, setting the stage for one of the most competitive editions in recent memory. The nominees were announced during TGMA’s official unveiling show on Saturday, March 14, at the Palms Convention Centre, La Palm Beach Hotel.
Leading the charge in the Artiste of the Year category are Black Sherif, Medikal, Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, and Diana Hamilton, all of whom have enjoyed strong chart performance and fan support over the past year. Notably, dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale makes his return after a seven-year ban, joining Medikal and Beeztrap Kotm in the Best Hiplife Song category for Shoulder.
Albums in contention for Album/EP of the Year include Black Sherif’s Iron Boy, Medikal’s Disturbation 2, Gyakie’s After Midnight, Stonebwoy’s Torcher, Wendy Shay’s Ready, and Kweku Smoke’s Walk With Me. Emerging talents Kojo Blak, Gonaboy, Lalid, and Adom Kiki are vying for Best New Artiste, highlighting the next generation of Ghanaian stars.
The 27th TGMA will feature 26 categories, covering a wide range of genres and achievements—from Best Hiplife/HipHop, Afrobeats/Afropop, and Reggae/Dancehall, to Gospel, Collaboration of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Music Video of the Year.
Fans eagerly await the announcement of the awards night date, anticipating who will take home Ghana’s top music honors this year.
