Moliy Goes Platinum in UK With ‘Shake It to the Max (Fly)’

Ghanaian-American singer Moliy and Jamaican producer Silent Addy have secured Platinum certification in the United Kingdom for their hit single “Shake It to the Max (Fly),” the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) announced.

The track, which blends infectious Afro-dancehall rhythms with pop sensibilities, has now surpassed 600,000 combined sales and streaming equivalents in the UK as of May 29, 2026.

Originally released on December 3, 2024, the song gained significant momentum through a high-profile remix featuring Jamaican dancehall stars Skillibeng and Shenseea. Official remixes often contribute to the original track’s certification totals when aggregated under BPI and Official Charts Company rules.

The single climbed to No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart and spent multiple weeks at No. 1 on the UK Afrobeats Chart, marking a major crossover success for the Afro-fusion sound.

Moliy, born Moliy Ama Montgomery in Accra, Ghana, in 2001, has built a reputation for fusing Afropop, R&B, and alternative influences drawn from her bicultural upbringing between Ghana and the United States. Her earlier collaboration on Amaarae’s “Sad Girlz Luv Money” (remixed with Kali Uchis) helped introduce her to global audiences, charting on the Billboard Hot 100.

Silent Addy, part of the Miami-based production duo Bashment Sound alongside Disco Neil, crafted the beat that drives the track’s energetic vibe. The song’s dance-ready appeal has translated into strong international performance, with additional certifications in markets including the United States, France, and beyond.

This Platinum milestone underscores the growing global footprint of Afrobeats and dancehall-infused music, as artists from the African diaspora continue to dominate charts and streaming platforms worldwide.
