YCEE has returned with his second studio album, Out of Sight Out of Mind (Vol. 1).
Born Oludemilade Martin Alejo, the Lagos-raised rapper first broke through with “Jagaban” in 2015, building a following that earned him nominations at the MTV Africa Music Awards, the All Africa Music Awards, and The Headies, before he left Tinny Entertainment in 2019 to launch his own label, ANBT. His debut studio album, Ycee vs Zaheer, followed later that year in November 2019.
That makes Out of Sight Out of Mind his first full project in nearly six years, and he arrives with something to say. The 14-track album carries features from Dremo, PsychoYP, Damian Karma, DamilareMusic, and KLY. Conceptually, the project revolves around themes of emotional distance, detachment, and personal clarity, with YCEE reflecting on the process of letting go of relationships, memories, and circumstances that no longer align with personal growth.
With a mix of Afrobeats-infused rhythms, Alte-inspired experimentation, and core hip-hop foundations, all built on laid-back drum patterns, and smooth melodic layers that give YCEE the freedom to move between rapping and singing. His lyricism carries a more reflective tone, with moments of introspection woven alongside clever wordplay and assertive delivery.
The Vol. 1 tag might just mean that there’s more to expect. But for now, Out of Sight Out of Mind is available on all major platforms.
