Grammy-nominated artist and cultural icon Wale released “Mirroronnabenz” ft. BNYX, the latest single off his widely anticipated upcoming eighth studio album. The deeply personal track and music video arrive following the recent announcement of everything is a lot., set to drop on November 14, 2025 via Def Jam Recordings.
“Mirroronnabenz” is Wale’s third single this year, following the delivery of “Where to Start” (June 2025) and “Blanco” (March 2025). Featuring the genre-bending sounds of chart-topping producer and songwriter BNYX, the song marks one of Wale’s most introspective records to date. With a rhythmic hook and nimble lyricism, “Mirroronnabenz” acts as a mirror, reflecting on Wale’s past and the events that shaped him.
On the track, Wale reckons with identity, success, and self-worth. The legendary, DMV-born rapper revisits early ambitions, relatable insecurities, and the mental toll of navigating fame. The recurring mantra “You deserve everything you do,” serves as both an affirmation and a reminder of self-love amid life’s challenges.
“‘Mirroronnabenz’ is a self-affirmation anthem. Black men don’t talk enough about mental health and our internal struggle. When we go through challenges, it’s important we pick ourselves up, remind ourselves that we’re fly and that we’re blessed,” explains Wale. “This is the soundtrack for when you’re having a conversation in the mirror before you go to work or get on stage. It’s about blocking out the noise to do what you do. You put that shit on this morning.”
Shot fully in black and white, the accompanying music video opens with Wale and collaborator BNYX in a makeshift studio. Wale is seen rapping the lyrics to the meditative track into his own reflection in a mirror, showcasing his inner-dialogue and the introspective tone of the record.
As one of the DMV’s most celebrated MCs, Wale has collaborated with chart topping artists including Rihanna, Lady Gaga, SZA, Miguel, Rick Ross, and more. Wale returned to music in 2023, following a brief hiatus, with a new deal under Def Jam Recordings. Peaking #1 on Billboard 200 with its 2015 release, Wale’s acclaimed album, The Album About Nothing, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year.
About Wale
Wale has been one of rap’s most versatile and enduring artists since his breakout 2008 mixtape, A Mixtape About Nothing. Blending striking social commentary, confident lyricism, Seinfeld-inspired irony, and anthemic storytelling, he helped merge backpack rap with mainstream success, earning Platinum and Gold plaques along the way. Born Olubowale Victor Akintimehin to Nigerian immigrant parents in Washington, D.C., he pursued football in college before shifting to music, scoring his first local hit with 2006’s “Dig Dug (Shake It).” His critically acclaimed A Mixtape About Nothing solidified his reputation for tackling complex themes with nuance, paving the way for a major-label debut, Attention Deficit (2009), and later success with Ambition (2011), The Gifted (2013), The Album About Nothing (2015), and more. Aligning with Rick Ross’ MMG, he delivered Platinum hits like “Lotus Flower Bomb” and “My P.Y.T.,” proving his staying power. After a brief hiatus following Folarin II (2019), Wale returned in 2023 with a new deal at Def Jam, a #1 Nigerian hit, and a Kennedy Center headline show celebrating The Gifted. Now, with his highly anticipated eighth album on the horizon, he’s ready to begin his next chapter as one of hip-hop’s greatest writers.
