Ghanaian rising rap star Xlimkid steps boldly into the spotlight with his debut EP, Life On The Edge (L.O.T.E), a deeply personal project that blends melodic rap, trap, soul, and highlife influences into an emotionally charged listening experience. At just 21 years old, the Kumasi-Esereso native is already positioning himself as one of the most compelling new voices redefining Ghana’s evolving music scene.

Born Boakye Henry, Xlimkid channels real-life experiences into his music, transforming pain, ambition, love, and resilience into songs that feel raw and relatable. Growing up in a broken home following his parents’ separation, he found refuge in music early on, using it as a means of escape and self-expression. That emotional honesty sits at the core of Life On The Edge, a project that explores the internal battles, societal pressures, and uncertainties faced by many young people today.

Sonically, the EP captures Xlimkid’s signature “melodic trap” sound, where introspective lyricism meets atmospheric production and soul-soothing melodies. Switching effortlessly between English and Twi, he crafts records that resonate across cultures while remaining rooted in his Ghanaian identity. Tracks throughout the project navigate themes of struggle, self-discovery, street reality, and perseverance, presenting a layered portrait of an artist unafraid to be vulnerable.

Xlimkid’s rise has been impossible to ignore. After generating momentum through viral moments and a loyal fanbase, he gained wider recognition with standout appearances on O’Kenneth’s Pain In Glory (The Tape), particularly on the breakout record “Lonely Road.” The song topped Apple Music Ghana, appeared on the U.S. Afrobeats Chart, and earned a major co-sign from American rapper Lil Durk, who publicly praised Xlimkid’s verse.

His growing catalogue also includes collaborations with heavyweight names such as Sarkodie on “Trauma” and the “Valley of Trappers” remix, alongside records with Reggie and DarkoVibes. Beyond streaming success, Xlimkid has also proven his star power on major stages, delivering memorable performances at events including Rapperholic Concert, Revival Concert, and Tidal Rave.

With Life On The Edge (L.O.T.E), Xlimkid offers more than just a debut project. He delivers a coming-of-age statement rooted in honesty, vulnerability, and survival. It is the first chapter of an artist determined to turn pain into purpose while carving out his own lane in African music.
