Ghanaian rising star Olivetheboy has hit a significant streaming milestone, with his 2024 breakout single “Asylum” crossing 30 million streams on Spotify.

According to the artist’s official Spotify profile, the track currently stands at approximately 30,000,470 streams, making it his most-streamed song to date. It also outpaces other Ghanaian releases from 2024, positioning it as one of the top-performing local tracks of that year on the platform.

Released on March 1, 2024, as the lead single from his Avana (Deluxe) EP, “Asylum” quickly gained traction with its melodic Afrobeats sound and emotional delivery. The song has consistently outperformed the artist’s earlier hits, such as “GoodSin,” which sits at around 19.95 million streams on the same platform.

Olivetheboy’s current monthly listeners on Spotify hover near 743,000, reflecting sustained interest in his catalog even as newer releases like “Gymnastic” and tracks from his 2025 projects continue to build his audience.

This achievement comes amid broader growth in Africa’s recorded music industry. According to the IFPI Global Music Report 2026, revenues in Sub-Saharan Africa rose by 15.2% in 2025 to reach $120 million, driven largely by increased adoption of licensed streaming services and the global appeal of African sounds.

While exact year-end 2024 rankings can shift slightly with ongoing streams, multiple sources from late 2024 and early 2025 had already identified “Asylum” as the most-streamed Ghanaian song of 2024 on Spotify, a position that appears to have held as the track continued accumulating plays into 2026.

The milestone highlights the growing role of digital platforms in elevating young Ghanaian talents. Artists from the region are increasingly finding audiences not only at home and across Africa but also in the diaspora, contributing to Afrobeats’ expanding global footprint.
