Apple Music has named rising Ghanaian artist Xlimkid as the latest cover star of its Rap Life Africa playlist, spotlighting his single “LIFE OF ECSTASY” from his debut EP Life On The Edge (L.O.T.E).
The recognition marks another major milestone for the 21-year-old artist, whose emotionally driven blend of melodic rap, trap, soul and highlife continues to attract growing attention across Africa and beyond.
Built around atmospheric production and introspective lyricism, “LIFE OF ECSTASY” explores themes of perseverance, ambition, and emotional resilience. Through reflective storytelling, Xlimkid examines the tension between hardship and success while offering a personal perspective shaped by lived experience.
The song further reinforces the Kumasi-born artist’s growing reputation as one of the standout voices among Ghana’s emerging music generation, combining vulnerability with modern Hip-Hop influences and melodic experimentation.
Born Boakye Henry and raised in Esereso in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, Xlimkid has steadily built momentum through a series of viral releases and collaborations. His breakout track “Lonely Road” with O’Kenneth topped the Apple Music Ghana charts and later gained international attention, including recognition from American rapper Lil Durk.
His debut EP Life On The Edge (L.O.T.E) presents a deeply personal collection of songs centered on pain, love, determination, and self-discovery. The project reflects a broader shift within Ghanaian Hip-Hop, where younger artists are increasingly embracing emotional honesty, genre fusion, and alternative sonic influences.
Speaking on the recognition, Xlimkid expressed appreciation for the platform and the opportunity to represent Ghanaian music on a larger stage.
“I’m truly honored and deeply grateful to be the cover star for the Rap Life Africa playlist by Apple Music,” he said. “This moment means so much to me, and it is a big step in my journey.”
Rap Life Africa serves as the African companion to Apple Music’s flagship Rap Life playlist, highlighting influential and emerging Hip-Hop artists from across the continent.
With the placement, Xlimkid joins a growing list of African rap artists receiving international editorial support as streaming platforms continue expanding the global reach of African Hip-Hop and alternative sounds.
As Life On The Edge continues to gain traction, Xlimkid’s latest spotlight further positions him as one of the most promising young voices shaping the future of Ghanaian rap and contemporary African music.
