Ghanaian rap superstar Sarkodie is among the artists billed for Afro+ Fest 2026, a major three-day Afro-Caribbean and Hip Hop festival taking place at Northwest Stadium over Labor Day weekend.

The festival, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4 through Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, in the DMV area, will feature multiple stages and a stacked lineup highlighting Afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop, and related genres. Organizers describe it as the largest event of its kind in North America, building on last year’s debut that drew thousands of attendees.

Headliners include Nigerian stars Wizkid and Davido, along with Jamaican dancehall artist Alkaline. Sarkodie joins a strong supporting cast that also features Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Adekunle Gold, Spice, Dexta Daps, Ruger, Victony, and others. Davido is expected to headline Friday, Alkaline on Saturday, and Wizkid closing out the weekend on Sunday.

Northwest Stadium, with a capacity of around 64,000, will host the expanded festival for the first time as a multi-day event. Tickets are set to go on sale in May 2026, with early access options available through the official Afro+ Fest website.

The announcement has generated significant excitement among fans of African and Caribbean music in the United States, particularly in the DMV region, known for its vibrant diaspora communities. Sarkodie, one of Ghana’s most celebrated rappers with a career spanning over a decade and multiple award-winning albums, is making a notable U.S. festival appearance.

Afro+ Fest aims to celebrate global Black music and culture through performances, cultural experiences, and community programming across its themed stages. More artists are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
